A record number of states and localities will increase the minimum wage in 2023. In total, 86 jurisdictions comprised of 27 states and 59 cities and counties will raise their minimum wage by the end of 2023. California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington State, and parts of New York reach or exceed a $15.00 minimum wage requirement in 2023.

Note: Minimum wage rules also depend on the type of job an individual performs. Some states have different requirements for smaller companies. There are also reductions in wage requirements for workers who earn extra money in tips.
